We Give Thanks- Day 10

Praise Him for the promise!

If you have prayed about something, and the Lord has given you a word, or you have found a promise in scripture, thank and praise Him until the manifestation comes.

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us- 1 John 5:14

You can give thanks, knowing the Lord has heard your supplication.

Mary is a perfect example of this. When the word of the Lord came to her, that she was going to bear a son, she received the word in faith and praised God beautifully!

Then Mary said:

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For He has looked with favor on the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed.

For the Mighty One has done great things for me.

Holy is His name.

His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.

He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts.

He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble.

He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.

He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful, as He promised to our fathers, to Abraham and his descendants forever.”

Luke 1:46-55

Claire Gibson shares, in this piece, which I found so profound:

It is another thing entirely to sing a song of praise before the birth even occurs. That is exactly what happens in Luke 1, when Mary visits Elizabeth and sings a song of faith, months before any of the treachery or triumph of Jesus’s birth had taken place. When Mary sings, she does so as a young woman, pregnant with a child of questionable parentage, believing in what ought to have seemed outlandish or improbable. But Mary believes, and Elizabeth, feeling the child in her womb leap with joy, understands that what Mary has been saying all along is true. Mary’s song, also known as the Magnificat, is mainly taken from the song of Hannah and other songs from Scripture (1 Samuel 2:1–10). But as Charles Spurgeon once preached, “this shows how Mary had studied the Word of God and laid it up in her heart.”

Thank Him when the promise is conceived, praise Him while you carry it, and thank Him when it is birthed.

Thanksgiving prompt: Thank God for the promises he has given to you. Thank Him because you know His word is yes and amen. Thank Him for His faithfulness to His covenant, always.

I advice that you journal your thanksgiving, it will help you engage in it more consciously, and in 50 days, you will have a record of gratitude. You can play the song below as you journal.

  1. I literally was praying this morning and felt led to go back to the scriptures God gave me for this very interesting season of my life , going back to the words I got from people .
Really laughs with today’s prompt too. Thank you God and thank you so much too.

  2. My soul magnify the Lord and my spirit, praise His name. Great is His faithful towards me. His loving kindness I see day after day. PRAISE THE LORD!

  3. God’s word endures. This was a line that stood out for me while reading my scriptures for the day. And then I come here and see we are all on the same page. And it doesn’t even matter that I’m a few days behind schedule. God just orchestrated everything to be in sync. This God!!!!
