We Give Thanks- Day 29

Today, I volunteered at a soup kitchen my church put together to serve the homeless people in the community. It was such a beautiful experience and it just made me see how much we take for granted.

Most of the homeless people survive on scraps and junk food that strangers give to them. They only get a hot meal, once in a while when people are kind enough to cook for them and give it to them.

If you’re reading this, chances are, you’ve had at least one meal every single day of this year, and if you didn’t eat, it was probably because you chose not to eat.

The fact that you’ve always had something to eat, even on the days when you were broke is a blessing from God. Even on the days when your cupboard, fridge or pantry is empty, the fact that you can still throw something together, buy a small meal, or visit someone who can feed you, is a huge blessing.

Food is something that we have no capacity to give to ourselves. God feeds every single man. Yes we may plant the seeds, but we don’t have the ability to make those seeds grow and become food. It is by God’s mercies that we are able to eat everyday.

The Lord bountifully provides food for every human being on earth to be nourished and sustained. Our food has all the right nutrients that our bodies need. Our bodies are able to break down and digest food and keep us alive.

God feeds the birds and every living thing. Jesus Himself asked us not to ever worry about food, because He is faithful to feed us always.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? - Matthew 6:26-27

Thanksgiving prompt: Thank God for the food you eat. Thank God for sustaining you always.

I suggest you journal your thanksgiving. You can play the song below as you do so.
