The words and promises of the LORD are pure words, Like silver refined in an earthen furnace, purified seven times- Psalms 12:6
For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it bud and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat, so My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it.- Isaiah 55:11
Every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, contains the power for its performance. Therefore, as soon as God speaks a thing, we can rest assured that it is done, and finished even though we have not yet seen the physical manifestation.
Abraham became a father the day God called him the father of many nations, not the day Isaac was conceived or born.
David became King on the day he was anointed not the day he was enthroned.
Scripture also tells us that Jesus, the lamb of God was slain before the foundations of the earth were laid.
And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered before the world was made.- Revelation 13:8
Things come to be, once God has spoken them. Nothing can change a decree of God. God does not lie either, so we can confidently bank on, and rely on His promises.
God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?- Numbers 23:19
Unfortunately, it’s easy to be like Zechariah who doubted the word of God, even when an angel brought it to him.
One day while Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God, 9he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. And at the hour of the incense offering, the whole congregation was praying outside. Just then an angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and gripped with fear. But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb. Many of the sons of Israel he will turn back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” “How can I be sure of this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.” “I am Gabriel,” replied the angel. “I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”- Luke 1:8-19
When we receive a promise from God, we can praise him, and thank Him while we await the manifestation. We can thank Him for what He has promised even before we receive it, because we know faithful is He, who has promised.
Thanksgiving prompt: Thank God for his promises to you. Is there a promise from God, that you are awaiting manifestation of? Praise and thank Him for the promise, because you are certain to receive it at the appointed time!
