Sing to God!
Sing praises to His name.
Exalt Him who rides on the clouds—
His name is the LORD—
A father of the fatherless,
and a defender of the widows,
is God in His holy habitation.
God settles the lonely in families;
He leads the prisoners out to prosperity,
but the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.
Psalms 68:4-6
God in His wisdom has designed us to operate within community. No single person is designed to do life alone. Our lives are richer because of the people we share it with. If you think back to some of the most beautiful moments you’ve experienced in life, I’m sure you’d realise that other people were involved in one way or the other. We experience God’s blessings and love through other people, and I think that’s just so wonderful. My dear friend recently came all the way from another country to celebrate my birthday with me because she knows how difficult things have been for me lately. I felt the love of Jesus tangibly through her actions. If you think about it, you’d see how the love of God has been expressed to you through people. God has woven our lives in Him into a unique tapestry and our lives are intertwined with one another. Praise God that we don’t have to go through life alone.
I think about King David and the beautiful friendship he shared with Jonathan. David was anointed, but Jonathan selflessly helped him fulfill destiny and escape death at the hands of Saul. I think about Jesus and his disciples who were with Him throughout His earthly ministry. We all need somebody!
Thanksgiving prompt: Today we are thanking God for the gift of men. Thank God for the people in your life, including your friends and family. Be as specific as you can, and highlight how special they are to you.
I advice that you journal your thanksgiving, it will help you engage in it more consciously, and in 50 days, you will have a record of gratitude. You can play the song below as you journal. As always, please share with a friend!
